Connect Gemini
Add WhatsAble to the Gemini app as a custom app, to Gemini Enterprise as an MCP server, or to the Gemini CLI, then ask Gemini to read and send your WhatsApp messages.
Google offers WhatsAble in three places: the Gemini app, Gemini Enterprise for work accounts, and the Gemini CLI for developers. Each has its own setup.
On WhatsAble, you need to be an owner or an admin, on a plan that includes the API. See What you need.
The Gemini app connects WhatsAble as a custom app. Google is rolling custom apps out with Gemini Spark, first to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, and limits them for now:
- You are 18 or over and in the US.
- Your account has Gemini Spark.
- You sign in with a personal Google account, not a work or school account.
- Keep Activity is on.
- Custom apps work in English, and you add them on the web.
Open Connected Apps
On your computer, go to gemini.google.com. Open Settings, then Connected Apps. If you don't see it, look under Personal Intelligence.
Add a custom app
Under Custom apps (named Custom apps for Spark in some versions), choose Add a custom app. Enter the MCP server URL and choose Next:
https://api.whatsable.app/mcpSign in to WhatsAble and approve
Gemini opens WhatsAble. Sign in, choose the organization, choose what Gemini can do and which numbers it can use, then Approve. Access and connections shows each page.
Once added, WhatsAble works in Gemini on the web and in the mobile apps. Ask Gemini to use WhatsAble, for example "Use WhatsAble: who wrote to us today?".
Remove it
Remove WhatsAble from Connected Apps in the Gemini app, from Connected apps in Gemini Enterprise, or with gemini mcp remove whatsable in the CLI (add --scope user if you added it that way). This removes it from Gemini only. To revoke the connection, also go to Settings > API keys > Connected AI apps in WhatsAble and choose Revoke. See Revoke a connection.
