WhatsAble

WhatsAble MCP server

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor or any MCP client to your WhatsApp numbers. Ask your assistant to read conversations, send messages and templates, label contacts, run broadcasts and manage AI agents.

The WhatsAble MCP server puts your WhatsApp Business numbers inside the AI assistant you already use. You ask in plain words, and the assistant does the work in WhatsAble for you:

  • "Who wrote to us today and has not had an answer?"
  • "Send the order_ready template to Maria with order number 1042."
  • "Turn off the AI agent for this customer, I will answer myself."
  • "Label everyone who asked about prices as Lead."
  • "Show me the broadcasts we sent this week and how many were read."

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard that AI apps use to call tools in other services. Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, VS Code and many other apps support it.

The server URL

https://api.whatsable.app/mcp

Add this URL as an MCP server, connector or custom app in your AI app. The app then opens a WhatsAble page where you sign in and choose what the app may do. You never copy a key.

Connect your AI app

What you need

  • An active Pro or Agency plan. The Bulk Message plan does not include the API, so it cannot connect an AI app.
  • At least one connected WhatsApp number.
  • To be an owner or an admin of the organization. A member cannot connect an AI app.

What the assistant can do

Each group below is a set of tools the server offers. The assistant sees only the tools that the access you approved allows. With Read only, for example, it sees no tool that sends or changes anything. Access and connections explains the choices.

Account and numbers

Who this connection belongs to, what it may do, and the WhatsApp numbers it can use.

Tools: get_account, list_numbers

Messages

Read the messages on this connection's numbers, send texts, templates and media, and check whether each one was delivered or read.

Tools: list_messages, get_message, send_text_message, send_template_message, send_media_message

Conversations and AI

See each customer's conversation and whether its 24-hour window is open, read what happened in it and why the AI did what it did, switch the AI off or back on in one conversation, and stop or allow its follow-ups to one contact.

Tools: list_conversations, get_conversation, read_conversation, set_conversation_ai, set_contact_follow_ups

Templates

Find the approved templates a send can use, read the variables they need, and submit new ones to Meta for review.

Tools: list_templates, get_template, create_template

Contacts and labels

Find, add and update contacts, and organize them with labels.

Tools: find_contacts, get_contact, list_labels, create_contact, update_contact, add_contact_label, remove_contact_label, create_label, update_label, delete_label

Scheduled messages

Schedule a text or a template for later, see what is scheduled, and cancel what has not been sent yet.

Tools: schedule_message, list_scheduled_messages, get_scheduled_message, cancel_scheduled_message

Broadcasts

Send an approved template to a list of phones, paced over time, and follow how each send ended.

Tools: list_broadcasts, get_broadcast, list_broadcast_recipients, create_broadcast, cancel_broadcast

AI agents

Read and change the AI agents that answer customers, create or copy one, and choose which bot answers on each number.

Tools: list_ai_bots, get_ai_bot, list_knowledge_files, list_ai_bot_files, create_ai_bot, update_ai_bot, duplicate_ai_bot, delete_ai_bot, assign_ai_bot_to_number

Help

This guide: what this connection can do, workflows to follow, and short notes on how WhatsApp works.

Tools: get_guide

Ask it what it can do

You don't need to learn the tool names. Ask "What can you do with WhatsAble?" and the assistant reads the server's guide: what this connection can do, the suggested workflows, and the WhatsApp rules it must follow. Apps that show MCP prompts, such as Claude, also list the workflows as ready-made prompts.

How it keeps you in control

  • You choose the access. When you connect, you pick what the app can do and which numbers it can use. You can revoke it at any time.
  • Your AI app asks before it acts. Most apps ask you to approve each tool that sends or changes something. Read the request before you approve it: each send sends one real WhatsApp message.
  • A refused message is never reported as sent. When WhatsApp refuses a message, the tool result starts with "Not sent" and says why. Not sent results explains them.
  • The server follows the same rules as the API. Every tool calls the WhatsAble API v1, with the same scopes, number limits and rate limits as an API key.

How it fits with the rest of WhatsAble

  • Team Inbox. A message your assistant sends is a normal message of the conversation. Your team sees it in the inbox right away, and can reply from there.
  • The AI agent. The assistant can turn the AI agent off in one conversation so you can answer yourself, and turn it back on. With Full access it can also read and change an AI agent's prompt and settings. The AI agent treats a message your assistant sends like a reply from your team, for example when it decides whether to follow up.
  • Labels. The assistant finds contacts by label, adds and removes labels, and sends broadcasts to a label.
  • Team roles. Only owners and admins can connect an AI app. The connection works for the whole organization, within the numbers you approved, so treat it like an API key.
  • The API. Every tool calls the WhatsAble API v1. What your assistant can do, your own code can do too.
  • Zapier, Make and n8n. Use them for automations that run on their own, such as a template when a deal closes. Use the MCP server when you want to ask for something in a conversation. A message the assistant sends fires the same outgoing webhooks as one sent from the inbox, so your automations see it.
