Connect Claude
Add WhatsAble to Claude as a custom connector, on claude.ai, the desktop app or the mobile apps, then ask Claude to read and send your WhatsApp messages.
You add WhatsAble once, on claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app. It then works in every Claude app you sign in to, mobile included.
You need: a Claude account. On the Free plan, Claude allows one custom connector. On WhatsAble, you need to be an owner or an admin, on a plan that includes the API. See What you need.
Add the connector
Open Connectors
In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors.
Add a custom connector
Choose Add custom connector. On some screens you choose + Add first.
Enter the name and the URL
Name it WhatsAble. As the remote MCP server URL, enter:
https://api.whatsable.app/mcpChoose Continue.
Choose Register automatically
Claude shows the authentication settings it detected. Under Authentication, keep Sign in now. Under OAuth client, choose Register automatically, then Add.
Sign in to WhatsAble and approve
Claude opens WhatsAble. Sign in, choose the organization, choose what Claude can do and which numbers it can use, then Approve. Access and connections shows each page.
Choose Register automatically, not Use Claude's published identity. Claude offers its published identity first, and WhatsAble does not support it yet. With that option, Claude cannot connect to WhatsAble. If you already added the connector that way, remove it and add it again: Claude cannot change the authentication settings of a connector.
Use it in a chat
Ask a question about your WhatsApp, such as "What can you do with WhatsAble?" or "Who wrote to us today?". Claude calls the WhatsAble tools when it needs them.
- Turn it on or off for a chat: choose + in the message box, then Connectors, and use the WhatsAble toggle.
- Approve tool calls: Claude asks before it calls a tool. Choose Allow once for anything that sends. Keep Always allow for tools that only read, if you want fewer prompts.
- Block a tool: in Customize > Connectors, select WhatsAble and set a tool to Blocked. Claude then never calls it.
- Use a workflow as a prompt: WhatsAble's suggested workflows are also prompts. Choose + in the message box and look for WhatsAble.
Remove it
In Customize > Connectors, choose WhatsAble, then Remove. This removes the connector from Claude only. To revoke the connection, also go to Settings > API keys > Connected AI apps in WhatsAble and choose Revoke. See Revoke a connection.
Problems
- The WhatsAble page never opens, or Claude says it could not connect: check that you chose Register automatically. Remove the connector and add it again.
- "Only owners and admins of an organization can connect an AI app": ask an owner of your WhatsAble organization to connect it, or to make you an admin.
- A number you just connected is missing from a send: the tools learn your numbers when Claude connects to the server. Start a new chat. If it is still missing, the connection may not include that number: see Change what an app can do.
