Connect WhatsApp Business to WhatsAble (Embedded Signup + Coexistence)
Keep the WhatsApp Business app on your phone and add WhatsAble on the same number. Meta calls this Coexistence. This guide tells you what Coexistence means, what to check before you start Embedded Signup, how the signup goes, and what changes after you connect.
What Coexistence means
Meta Coexistence lets one WhatsApp number work in two places at the same time: the WhatsApp Business app on your phone, and WhatsAble.
- You keep the WhatsApp Business app installed and you can continue to use it. You do not remove it to connect to WhatsAble.
- Messages sync in both directions. A reply that you type on your phone shows in WhatsAble, and a message that you send from WhatsAble shows on your phone.
- At the QR / Coexistence step, Meta asks if you want to share chat history. Meta can label it "From last 6 months". If you share it, WhatsAble imports approximately the last 6 months of your 1:1 chats (about 180 days), as Meta's documentation says.
- Groups, Status and Calls stay in the WhatsApp Business app. WhatsAble does not get them, whatever you choose at the chat history step.
- You can skip the chat history. Then only new messages sync from that point.
Do not uninstall the WhatsApp Business app after you connect. Coexistence needs the app to stay installed on that number.
Before you start
A Meta Business Portfolio. Embedded Signup needs a Business Portfolio, not a personal Facebook profile. You can create one during the signup, but it is faster to have one ready. For the website field, use your business website. If you do not have one, an Instagram or Facebook page URL also works.
A phone number with some recent activity. Coexistence can fail on a new number that nobody used. The number must also be registered on the WhatsApp Business app, not on the consumer WhatsApp app.
Make sure that your number's country is not restricted. See country restrictions below.
Country restrictions
Meta does not support new WhatsApp Business Platform connections from Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Syria, and some regions of Ukraine. A number that is registered in one of these places cannot connect. Use a different number outside those restrictions.
If an unofficial WhatsApp tool already uses this number
Coexistence replaces any unofficial (non-Meta) API tool that runs on the number. When Coexistence is active, those unofficial tools stop working on that number. This is expected.
Pricing
The phone number itself is free. Meta does not charge for it. You pay for your WhatsAble plan, and WhatsAble passes Meta's conversation costs through at 0% markup. See pricing for the current plans.
Your plan includes a number of WhatsApp numbers. Before Meta's signup opens, Settings → Business Numbers shows how many numbers your plan includes and the monthly price of each extra number.
Embedded Signup, step by step
Open Business Numbers
In WhatsAble, open Settings → Business Numbers. A new account can also start from Get started.
Start the signup
Select Connect WhatsApp. On Get started, the button is Connect your WhatsApp number. Meta's Embedded Signup opens in a popup.
Log in with Facebook
Log in with the Facebook account that manages your Meta Business Portfolio.
Pick or create your Business Portfolio
Select the Meta Business Portfolio of this number, or create one.
Pick or create a WhatsApp Business Account
Choose an existing WhatsApp Business Account, or let Meta create a new one.
Add your phone number
Enter the number that you want to connect. If the number is already active in the WhatsApp Business app, Meta offers Coexistence instead of a new registration.
Scan the QR code and choose Coexistence
Confirm that you want to keep the number in the WhatsApp Business app. When Meta asks about your chat history, choose share chat history (Meta can show this as "From last 6 months"). Groups, Status and Calls stay in the WhatsApp Business app in all cases. If you skip this step, only new messages sync.
Finish verification
Complete the verification that Meta asks for, such as business verification or a payment method. Then wait for the confirmation.
Meta registers a Coexistence number during the signup. WhatsAble does not ask you for a two-step PIN for it.
After you connect
- If your Meta Business Portfolio is already verified, you can usually send your first message after about 20 minutes.
- The number shows in Settings → Business Numbers. WhatsAble also imports the templates of your WhatsApp Business Account.
- If you shared your chat history, the History column on Business Numbers shows the import. It starts with Getting your chats from WhatsApp. At the end, it shows Imported with the number of messages and contacts.
- Imported chats show in the inbox. They do not start your AI agent or your automations, so your customers do not get replies to old messages.
- If the import stops, the row shows This import stopped before it finished. Select Try again, or contact support.
- Both sides stay live. You can reply from the WhatsApp Business app, and send and receive in WhatsAble, at the same time.
- An unofficial API tool that used this number stops working when Coexistence starts.

Limits
- Meta sets the throughput, not WhatsAble. Meta limits the number of messages per second on the Cloud API for each connected number. WhatsAble cannot change or increase this limit. Every Cloud API number gets the same limit from Meta.
- Meta sets the country restrictions, not WhatsAble. Numbers that are registered in Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Syria or some regions of Ukraine cannot complete Embedded Signup.
- Each number connects on its own. Coexistence and the connection apply to one number at a time. To add another number, run the signup again.
- Meta shares the chat history one time. You choose at the QR step. To change the choice later, you must disconnect and connect the number again.
Troubleshoot
Run Embedded Signup again from Settings → Business Numbers, with the same number. That clears it most of the time. If it's still stuck after a second attempt, contact support.
Messages like "temporarily prevented..." or a generic "An error occurred. Please try again." don't say what actually went wrong. To see more detail, go to business.facebook.com, open Settings (bottom left), then WhatsApp, and check your WhatsApp Accounts. Click the small white arrow next to Add (not the Add button itself), then choose Add WhatsApp Business App. That path on Meta's side usually surfaces the real error Embedded Signup was hiding, often a Business Portfolio mismatch or a partner lock (see the two items below). It doesn't always spell out which portfolio is the problem, so you may still need to check your portfolios by hand.
If the Instagram or Facebook page tied to your account belongs to a different Meta Business Portfolio than the one you're using for WhatsApp, Embedded Signup can fail without a clear reason. Connect using the Business Portfolio that actually owns that page, or move the page into the right portfolio first.
If this number was previously set up through another Meta Business Partner (BSP), that partner link can block Embedded Signup. Go to business.facebook.com, then Settings, then WhatsApp, then the Partners tab. Remove the partner tied to this number and wait a few minutes before retrying. While you're there, also confirm you're using the right Business Portfolio and that Business verification isn't the actual holdup.
Confirm the number is registered on the WhatsApp Business app (not the consumer WhatsApp app) and has some recent activity. A brand-new number sometimes needs a day or two of normal use before Meta offers Coexistence.
Wait 24 hours and try again with the same number, or try the other verification method (SMS vs. call). Don't uninstall the WhatsApp Business app while you retry.

A full reset touches your Meta Business Portfolio and WhatsApp Business Account configuration. Contact support rather than trying to undo it yourself.
